Ceftin has a bactericidal action. It is highly effective against the following gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Enterobacter spp.It is also active against gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. сefuroxime is used for treating inflammatory infectious diseases caused by causative microorganisms sensitive to the medicine: respiratory infections (acute and chronic bronchitis, infected bronchiectasis, bacterial pneumonia, lung abscess, post-surgical infections of pectoral organs; ENT infections: sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis; urinary infections: acute and chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, asymptomatic bacteriuria; soft tissue infections: cellulitis, erysipelas, wound infections; bone and joint infections: osteomyelitis, septic arthritis; obstetric and gynecologic infections: inflammatory diseases of pelvic organs; gonorrhea ; other infections including peritonitis, septicemia and meningitis. The medicine should be used with caution in patients with renal diseases. Patients who are sensitive to penicillin may have allergic reactions to сefuroxime.
